Lábatlan

Lábatlan is a small town nestled between the Danube and the Gerecse Mountains. It is not yet a popular tourist destination, but it has everything to offer: its wonderful natural beauty has been exploited in recent centuries mainly by industry – the history of the now closed cement factory in Lábatlan is on display in the Holcim Memorial House. Today, however, we look at the town differently: forests, mountains, caves and the Danube, as well as active leisure activities, are the first things that come to mind. The recently opened Dunamente Visitor Centre focuses on the question of human responsibility: it offers visitors answers to the central question “What can you do?”. The Danube-side Boathouse offers a great opportunity for water sports enthusiasts – with rental and storage of water sports equipment; two outdoor stages, one of which is located on the Danube bank; and the unique Gerenday Community House and Garden, with its many programmes for the culture-hungry.
